about

I was really into the concept of how it is that 'things' decided to be alive, at the time. There's not really anything in the music that ties into that idea, but I can assure you that I was thinking about it.

The 'aloe on a grid' idea came to me after a Joshua Tree camping trip. Reality felt like a cross between the matrix and nature. How the hell was it that matter could arrange itself into THAT? What drove it to such madness? The desert was this 'plane', out of which all this mysteriously motivated matter (cool) was growing. As I was staring off into the distance of the desert, it felt like I was in a surreal 3D math simulation. I found it moving.

The artwork itself was done by my friend Erik (dirtyoldroshi). This request, being as odd and specific as it is, wasn't even close to his usual style (basically, I asked him to do it because he is the bro man and the closest highly competent visual artist). Regardless, he brought this awkward concept to life. That said, you should see his other artwork and LARGE murals as of today, here at the ass end of 2020. He's WILDLY good at what he does! dirtyoldroshi - for your copy paste pleasure.

This material was written with room for vocals, though it was my impatience that slapped a title on it and called it done. That is, hands down, the biggest problem with this album. (Despite that, I'd say it definitely has moments that hold up, in retrospect)

I think part of my eagerness to call this a 'product' was because I had not been able to make a single, even semi-cohesive bunch of music prior to this. I treated writing this material like a day job, using my old childhood room as an office away from the apartment I was renting at the time... interesting feeling.

Right then

Consume probiotics and have a good day.

Max Karon Nevada

I've taken apart my reality so many times that I can tell you, very honestly, that you get to choose what's real. In seeking some sort of permanent truth, I once removed as many ideas and definitions as I could until I felt 'nothing', just the sum of my parts and electrical impulses. It was boring. I guess the clean slate was cool... but boring. Choose cool stuff - we're stuck in these bodies. ... more
